Makeup is expensive. There is no way around this painful fact. Beauty is pain, and apparently beauty is also money. Foundation can cost you $50, mascara, which you throw out in 3-4 months, is $25, and a setting powder can run you upwards of $60 in some cases. Hell, even with mostly drugstore products, my full face of makeup still cost me $215!
Despite the jaw dropping prices, $30 lipsticks, and paying $50 more just for the Chanel name, we still continue to drop money on high end makeup. And some of these products must be worth it, right? Right! There are some incredible high end products that really can’t be beat by lesser expensive dupes, and I’m here to talk you through them.
I got this as a gift from Luke for my birthday a year ago, and I love it so much! This palette received so much hype once it was released, and it totally deserves it all! The shades are beautiful, the mix of matte and shimmer is the perfect ratio, and the formula is incredible. Seriously, you won’t find softer eyeshadows. This continues to be one of my favorite high end products, even a year later.
2. MAC Soft & Gentle – $34
Advertised as a “mineralized skin finish” MAC’s Soft and Gentle is a stunning highlighter. I had heard Tanya Burr mention it many times throughout her videos, and I finally made the decision to buy it. This is the first MAC product I’ve owned, and I don’t regret a thing. The glow it provides is beautiful, and it lasts from morning to night. Not ready to spend $34? There’s a dupe from e.l.f., but I really do think this one from MAC is completely worth it.

3. NARS Orgasm Blush – $30
If you haven’t heard of the Orgasm blush from NARS by now, you must be living under a rock. This is practically the O.G blush, and is coveted by many. It’s so popular, in fact, that it comes in liquid, stick, and highlighter form. There’s even a limited edition version you can purchase! The blush a beautiful peach color with small flecks of gold that catch the light perfectly. The only gripe I have is that the matte black packaging gets dirty so quickly. First world problems at its finest!
4 & 5. Benefit Porefessional Primer – $31 // Urban Decay’s De-Slick Setting Spray – $32
You can never know just how good a product is until you try it yourself. The first time I tried Benefit’s the Porefessional Primer I was blown away. It truly makes your pores smaller and your makeup look even better than it already did. A small amount goes a long way, so despite the $31 price tag, it really is worth it.
To set my makeup, I’ve recently fallen in love with the de-slick setting spray from Urban Decay. All Nighter is a fan favorite amongst many, but the de-slick version is incredible for those of us who have been graced with oily skin. The setting spray just makes all of your makeup come together and last all day. No touch ups or blotting sheets required!
Probably one of the most talked about high end makeup products, the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (say that five times fast) is worth every compliment its received. When my Tarte Under the Sea eyeliner sadly dried out I thought I would give the Stila one a go. Boy was I not left feeling disappointed. This is the blackest eyeliner there is, and it really does last all. damn. day. The felt tip also makes creating a wing as easy as 1, 2 , 3. If that’s something you struggle with, I highly suggest picking this up and practicing. You’ll be an expert in no time!
So there you have it, the high end makeup I think is truly worth it. Obviously I haven’t tried every product under the sun, but I can put my seal of approval behind these products. Usually if a product is talked about over and over again, it’s for good reason, and these products are no different. Try them out for yourself and see what you think!
