Summer Makeup Look

Summer is upon us once again. The flip flops are out, days are spent by the pool, and ice cream becomes an acceptable food to eat for dinner. People also work on their tans and the makeup looks become simpler and focused around lots of highlight. With that in mind, I wanted to create a look that didn’t take long to do and yet was still beautiful and fit for the summer time.

Nude Lipstick Affordable Makeup

I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do on a 90º plus summer day is cake my face with makeup. No one I know enjoys the feeling of thick makeup melting off their face as it approaches happy hour. Oil and sweat is not equivalent to dewy skin, so less is more when it comes to summer time makeup. With my less is more approach, I like the look of a comfortable, nude lipstick. Bright lipstick is also fun for summer, but for an everyday basis, a nude lip is pretty and close to maintenance free.

New Wash Hair Story Review

My hair story is one that could be described as a love hate relationship. I love my natural blonde color, but I hate thin and unmanageable it is. I was born with bright yellow hair that fell in ringlets around my head. As I got older it became slightly wavy, long and very thick. Now, thanks to an unfortunate run with birth control, my hair is thin and oily. I can’t go more than two days without washing it, and it feels like my hair refuses to grow. I’m afraid I’ll be stuck with shoulder length hair the rest of my life.

How To Improve Blog Photos

When I first started blogging I knew absolutely nothing about photography. All I had was my iPhone, some makeup, and iPhoto to edit them in. I used overhead lighting to shoot and had no idea how to stage a photo. It’s safe to say my blog photos have come a long way since I first started With Love.

The complete guide to makeup brushes. What they're called and how to use them.

When I first started using makeup I owned about three brushes. I used all three for multiple products and hardly washed them. I figured if the makeup got from the pan or bottle onto my face than that was good enough! As I’ve grown older and more knowledgeable about makeup, my collection of makeup brushes has grown. I now know that each one has a specific purpose and place in a makeup routine. That’s not to say that you can’t break the rules and use a blush brush to apply highlighter (*gasp* THE HORROR!). However you’ll find that your makeup goes on much easier when you use the right brushes.

drugstore makeup starter kit oily skin

The drugstore can be a wonderful yet overwhelming place to shop for makeup. So many companies are coming out with incredible products, however there are still so many bad ones that you have to weed through first. Sometimes I walk into the drugstore, look around, and then walk back out again without picking up a single product. It’s just too much sometimes! I’ve put together a drugstore makeup starter kit to help those who are just starting to explore the world of makeup. Even if you’ve been using makeup for a while, this guide will help you find some awesome products while saving you from buying the bad ones.

While this starter kit is geared towards my friends with oily skin, there are products for everyone. In my opinion, every product listed below is fool proof and would make an excellent addition to anyone’s makeup bag. All the products are easy to use and provide great results, making them perfect for beginners! Hopefully these products inspire you to go to your local drugstore and pick up some new makeup. Makeup doesn’t have to be expensive to be good!
