If for some reason I were only allowed three makeup products for the rest of my life, one of them would definitely be mascara. I think mascara has the ability to complete any makeup look and make anyone’s eyes really stand out. I wanted to share my top five mascaras, some of which I have used for a while, and some of which are new to my collection, but that I’ve quickly fallen in love with.

Maybelline’s The Rocket mascara is one of the first I remember using, and since then I have gone back it many times. It creates a very defined look while also lengthening the lashes. It doesn’t run or transfer to my lids or underneath my eyes, which I consider a win because I have quite oily eyelids. This mascara also comes in a waterproof version if that is what you prefer. It’s around the $6 mark and can be found at most drugstores.

Urban Decay’s Perversion mascara creates some of the thickest lashes I have ever seen. It glides on really well, although I have found that it can get a bit clumpy. It’s a buildable formula that doesn’t become brittle, which allows for the application of more coats throughout the day. The brush consists of authentic bristles that aren’t plastic like you would find in most drugstore mascaras. Perversion sells for $22.

Another Maybelline mascara I love is the Falsies mascara. It’s a spoon shaped brush that is incredibly flexible, which is nice for getting into the corners of your eye. The formula provides volume and length and is also really easy to remove at the end of the day. After two coats it can start to look a little clumpy, but I don’t think any more than two coats of this mascara is even necessary. There is a waterproof version but it is extremely difficult to remove, to the point where it’s still on my lashes the next morning. I suppose if you’re going to a wedding or watching a sad film it’d be a good one to wear… The average price is $7.

The one thing I love about this Make Up For Ever mascara is the brush. It’s cone shaped, which makes coating every single eyelash incredibly easy. The formula itself is waxed based and does a great job at curling and defining the lashes. You get more of a natural look with this mascara, so it’s great for daytime wear. There’s no smudging or flaking, however it is a little difficult to remove at the end of the day. Make sure to pick up a good makeup remover! This mascara sells for $24 and can be bought at Sephora.

I realize that all three drugstore mascaras have been from Maybelline, but I guess that just goes to show that they make some great products! The Lash Sensational mascara is the latest one to enter my collection, but it’s my favorite! It has a patented fan shaped brush with ten layers of bristles, providing an extremely voluminous look. The formula is very thick; two coats and you are good for the entire day! It’s easy to remove and doesn’t smudge. I took a nap wearing this mascara and when I woke up I didn’t have any sign of racoon eyes. The sign of a good product! I’ve seen this mascara range from $7=$9 depending on where you purchase it from.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my top five mascaras. Let me know what your favorites are in the comments!

I love the urban decay perversion mascara too! Estee lauder also carries some really good quality mascaras. The only issue is that they are both pretty expensive. However you get what you pay for, right?!
