These cookies come out perfectly round every time I bake them and are the perfect mix of soft and crispy. The sea salt and dark chocolate are key to this recipe and leave you with a scrumptious cookie!

Ingredients

  1. 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  3. 1 teaspoon sea salt
  4. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  5. ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  6. 1 cup granulated sugar
  7. 2 large eggs
  8. 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  9. 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips

How To:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line cookie sheets with tin foil or parchment paper (this makes for much easier clean up!) and set aside.
  2. In the bowl, combine the butter and sugars and cream together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Having the butter at room temperature really makes this step easier.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract.
  4. Sprinkle the flour, baking soda and salt over the butter mixture and mix on low speed until just combined with no flour-y streaks. Use a spatula to fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Use a cookie scoop or spoon about 2 tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets
  6. Bake for about 14-16 minutes or until just set with the edges slightly golden.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheets about 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Store in an airtight container.

Take Note:

  • I found that having my oven on convection bake really made a difference. If the oven isn’t on convection bake the cookies tend to come out underdone and too gooey. If you don’t have a convection bake oven, rotate the baking sheets halfway through, around the 7 or 8 minute mark.
  • A cookie scoop is how you get that perfect shape and almost store bought look. It’s not a huge deal, but if you’re going for presentation (say for a gift or something) then a cookie scoop is a great investment. Pampered chef makes an awesome one.

IMG_4509Today I thought I’d share my night time skin care routine with you! Washing my face has been one of my least favorite things to do for a long time, but with the right products I’ve found that it can be a relaxing and refreshing experience. It’s those few minutes at night that you get to take for yourself where you can wind down from the day. IMG_4521The first thing I do is use my Pur~lisse cleanser, which unfortunately I am almost out of! I received a sample of this cleanser in an Ipsy bag over the summer and I fell in love with it; so much so that I asked for the full size bottle for my birthday. You know you’re getting older when a face cleanser is on your birthday list. This cleanser does such a nice job of removing makeup that I find that I rarely have to use a makeup remover when I use this. It doesn’t dry out my skin and is calming as well. The ingredients include blue lotus, white tea, soy proteins, sea silk, and lupine peptides.

On days I haven’t worn makeup I’ll use my Simple Micellar water to cleanse my face. The micellar water is gentle and calming and also does a great job of removing makeup. After washing my face with either my cleanser or micellar water I’ll use my Simple Soothing Facial Toner. This is a recent purchase and so far I really like it. There’s no alcohol in the toner so I feel free to use it both in the morning and at night. Witch hazel is included in the ingredients as an acne fighting agent.

Finally, it’s time to moisturize. I use the Simple Soothing Eye Balm to reduce puffiness and dark circles and the Olay Night of Olay firming cream on the rest of my face. The Olay firming cream is also a recent purchase, and I’m absolutely in love with it. For only $6 at Walmart it is the best moisturizer I have ever used. My skin gets so dry in the winter and this cream is the perfect solution. It’s thick and feels luxurious to put on. It’s non greasy and I can feel it actually working. In the morning I wake up and my skin is so smooth and looks radiant and healthy. I think this product will become one that I use for years to come!

So that’s it for my night time skin care routine. Let me know what products you love to use at night!
