Upstate NY is a wonderful place to live, especially in the summer when there are so many things to do. There are various fairs and carnivals, amusement parks, outside concert venues, lakes, and ponds, and that’s just skimming the surface. One of my favorite things to do is spend the day at the Saratoga Race Course. There’s nothing like dressing up and going to watch a few races and then heading to downtown Saratoga to have a delicious dinner. You might even win some money on a race or two!
I never considered myself a betting woman, but there’s something about putting a few dollars down on a horse and then cheering for your pick to win as he runs past that gets my adrenaline going. I also am guilty of people watching, mainly admiring what everyone wears, as nice dresses and big hats are a tradition at the race course. Although there are definitely some odd few who show up…
Broadway is definitely the place to go in the evening, however it can be crowded. There are so many amazing restaurants to get dinner at, and there’s certainly something for everyone. My favorite places to go are the Circus Cafe, Cantina, and Forno Bistro. All serve different cuisine, but all three are so welcoming and have a warm atmosphere. After getting dinner there are numerous places to go for dessert. There are multiple bakeries, chocolate shops, and frozen yogurt places depending on what you’re looking for. There are also so many cute boutiques to do a bit of shopping if that’s what you’re in the mood for.
I had such a great day at the race course and I wanted to share some of my favorite photos from the day. Enjoy!
