I talk a lot about drugstore makeup on my blog, but I’ve never put written a post that has a lot of my favorite drugstore products all in one place. I strongly believe that you don’t need to spend a fortune on makeup to achieve a high end look. Drugstore products can be just as good, or sometimes even better, than what you find at Ulta, Sephora, and other high-end shops. There always new products to try and makeup to fall in love with. I hope this post inspires you to try something new; maybe you’ll find a new favorite product!
The Maybelline Fit Me matte + poreless foundation is one of the best foundations I’ve found at the drugstore. It retails for around $5-9 depending on where you buy it from and comes in a glass bottle. The only downside to this product is that there’s no pump. A minor flaw I can look past considering how good this foundation is. I apply it with a fluffy brush or a wet beauty blender and it goes on evenly every time. It’s a medium coverage foundation but is definitely buildable.
Alongside the Maybelline foundation is their Fit Me concealer. I can’t even count how many times I’ve repurchased this product, and that alone is enough to tell me that this is one of the best concealers at the drugstore. It stays all day, doesn’t crease, and is thick enough to cover those dark circles and blemishes. It’s also only $4, you can’t beat that!
Continuing with the Maybelline kick, I really love their Brow Precise micro pencil. The formula is smooth, the tip is very tiny as suggested, and the attached spoolie makes blending out your brows super easy. Careful not to twist the pencil up too high though, it breaks off easily. This pencil also doesn’t last that long, maybe a month of daily use. That still doesn’t stop me from buying this product, it’s too good not to continue using it!
If you read my blog regularly you’re probably sick of reading about the e.l.f. blush and bronzer duo in St. Lucia. It’s so lovely that I couldn’t not include it in this post. Both products are incredibly pigmented and are the perfect shades for us fair skinned folk. The blush and bronzer both have gold micro glitter that provide a gorgeous glow when applied to the face. I’m really excited to try the blush when I have a tan as I think the gold will look especially beautiful then. Bonus! This product is a dupe for Nars Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer.
To top off the e.l.f. blush and bronzer I use their highlighter in Blush Gems. I haven’t found a better drugstore highlighter than this one, and I’ve tried quite a few. The blush pink color is stunning and it lasts from morning to night. It is quite an in your face highlight, so if that’s not your thing I would steer away from this. However I say the more highlight the better, so this one is perfect for me!
If cream products are more your thing this NYX highlighter in Chardonnay Shimmer is a great option! It’s a deeper, more golden highlight than the e.l.f. one but is just as stunning. I apply it with a stippling brush and it stays in place all day. It’s a bit less in your face than the previous highlight so it’s good for if you’re going with a more natural makeup look.
The L’oreal Infallible single eyeshadows have received a lot of hype, and for good reason! These are the most pigmented and smooth eyeshadows I’ve come across at the drugstore. There are plenty of beautiful colors to choose from; my favorites are Amber Rush and Iced Latté. The shadows get even better when you foil them, the color becomes even more pigmented and stunning.
My favorite liquid liner is the Maybelline Line Stiletto. It’s not a pen, but it’s still a felt tipped applicator, which makes applying the product incredibly easy. It’s a very black and pigmented formula that dries down to semi-matte finish. When I use this product to do wing it stays in place all day, which can be hard to find in a liquid liner. This retails for around the $9 mark and has lasted me months. Definitely worth it!
Another highly talked about product is the Super Sizer mascara from Covergirl. I have never loved a mascara more than this one, drugstore or high-end. The brush has two sides, one with short, stubby bristles and another with long and thick bristles. By going back and forth between these two you achieve an incredible false lash effect that makes your eyes pop. The brush is small enough that you can easily use this mascara on your lower lash line as well. I know the second I run out of this mascara I’ll be buying another one.
Another product I’m constantly mentioning on my blog are the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. For $6 they’re the best and cheapest drugstore liquid lipstick you can find. The color range is vast and the formula is consistent with each one. I own 5 or 6 of these at this point and I’ll probably buy more in the future. The formula is velvety and almost mousse like, and they dry down quickly to a nice matte finish. They don’t dry my lips out like a lot of other liquid lipsticks do and they also don’t bunch up throughout the day as you’re reapplying.
This is my holy grail lipstick. If I don’t know what lipstick to pair with the rest of my makeup for the day, I grab my Rimmel by Kate lipstick in 08. It’s the most amazing mauve color that is flattering on almost anyone. It’s comfortable, non drying, and lasts even after drinking a big glass of water. It’s $5-7 so there’s really no excuse to not own this beautiful lipstick.
Last but not least is the NYX Matte Finish setting spray. I use this more in the summer when I’m oily and it does a great job at making my makeup last longer and controlling the oil slick that is my face. The mist could be a bit finer, but it’s still not spraying drops of product so it’s not a huge issue. The 2 oz. bottle lasts a decent amount of time and can be used for foiling as well. NYX also sells a dewy setting spray that I am currently trying out.
That was a long post, and if you stayed around to read the whole thing, thank you! Let me know if you’ve tried these products as well and what you’re go to drugstore makeup is.
Thanks for reading,
