The theme you choose for your blog is the first impression you give readers when they come to your site. That’s why it’s so important to have a theme that’s responsive, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to navigate. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve left a blog simply because I didn’t like the way it looked or it was hard to find what I was looking for. That may seem harsh to some, but it’s the truth. If a blog looks unprofessional I’m not going to trust what the author has to say.

When I started a blog I had no idea what I was doing. I had my parents camera, some makeup, and a free WordPress site. I posted when I had time, had no idea the importance of an email list, and was happy is my blog got 20 pageviews a day. It’s safe to say I have learned a lot since then about what goes into making a blog successful. Continue Reading

I’m not going to be one of those people who talk about how slow January felt. For me, the month flew by and I can’t believe it’s already the 8th day of February. That means there are less than 3 weeks left in this month. I know there are only 3 fewer days in February but man it feels incredibly short.

Instagram. Some of us bloggers love it, some are over it, but all of us seem to be fighting an uphill battle lately. Instagram has been getting a bad rep for its less than perfect algorithm, and sometimes it seems like gaining a following on the platform is next to impossible. It’s hard to believe that the first month of 2018 is almost over! January has been pretty good to me in terms of my blog and personal life. This month is shaping up to be my biggest month in terms of traffic yet, which is really exciting. I love seeing all of my hard work starting to pay off. My Instagram is also starting to really take off, which is awesome to see considering the algorithm is less than perfect.

This month I took a quick trip up to Lake Placid with Luke and we had SO much. I tried cross country skiing for the first time, and while it’s not my favorite it’s also not my least favorite thing to do. Luke loves it though so I tried it for his sake! We also attended a world aerial freestyle competition which was incredible to watch. How a person even begins to start skiing off of giant jumps I will never know.

Unfortunately Luke and I will not be together for Valentines Day as he goes back to school tomorrow. Even though we won’t see each other I still plan on sending him a little something to let him know I’m thinking about him. I put together this gift guide to help you find some inspiration for Valentines Day gifts for the people in your life! Whether you’re buying for a friend or your significant other, there’s something for everyone!

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that driving traffic to my posts is my biggest struggle as a blogger. In my opinion, I think my photography and content is high quality. I interact with other bloggers and spend as much time on social media as I can manage. Over the past few months the traffic to my blog has slowly begun to increase, and maybe, just maybe, things are starting to take a turn.
