Quick raise of hands, who loves a good face mask? 🙋🏼 Who dislikes spending a crazy amount of money at Sephora for said face mask? 🙋🏼 Seriously, why are the things so expensive? You can find decent ones at Target or the drugstore, but I’m always a little wary of the quality of the ingredients.

That’s why today I’m bringing you a recipe for a DIY face mask that is simple to make, uses everyday ingredients, and is actually beneficial. A DIY face mask is great because you know exactly what’s going on your skin; no more guessing what an ingredient is on the back of a label.

The face mask I’m sharing with you today is an oatmeal chamomile mask which is calming, fights acne, and tightens the skin. Like I mentioned before, I like to know what I’m putting on my skin and the benefits of each ingredient. That’s why I want to go through each ingredient so you know the benefits as well!

DIY Oatmeal Tea Face Mask

Oatmeal contains saponins, which remove dirt and oil from your pores. Saponins and are anti-inflammatory and have anti-oxidants. Oatmeal as a whole is moisturizing due to the high amounts of fat in it.

Chamomile Tea

I used Dozy Girl tea from Bluebird Tea Co in this mask, which is a blend of chamomile, lavender, and rose. In addition to being a delicious drink, chamomile tea is soothing, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial. The rose and lavender in this blend of tea also provide more skin-calming benefits.

Dozy Girl is a part of Bluebirds new Dreamtime tea collection which you can check out here. There are four teas in the collection, all meant to relax you and help you unwind after a long day! You can use the code WLBTEABIRD20 to get 20% off your first purchase. They ship worldwide and pretty quickly at that!

Egg Whites

Egg whites have multiple skin benefits! For starters, they help shrink and tighten your pores. If you make this mask, you’ll notice that it will dry and your skin will start to feel tight. That’s the egg white in action!

Egg whites also help to reduce oily skin, fight blackheads, lift the skin and reduce under-eye puffiness. Talk about a magical ingredient!

Honey is antibacterial, so it’s great for fighting and preventing acne! It also slows down signs of aging and clarifies your pores by opening them up.

That’s it! This DIY face mask is five ingredients (I didn’t list water but you need that too) and it has so many amazing benefits. The mask is quite thin, so while you can apply it with your fingers I suggest you use a brush. A flat foundation brush will do just fine.

The mask also has to be kept in the fridge due to the egg white. Just to be safe I would label the mask so no one tries to eat it! Technically it’s edible but I doubt it tastes very good! I can say that it smells lovely thanks to the Dozy Girl tea.

I hope you make this mask and enjoy using it while relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine (or beverage of your choice). I have a tendency to put a face mask on and then fold laundry or work on my blog so I need to get better at relaxing myself!

Grab the recipe and instructions below and happy relaxing!
