I’m sure you’ve heard of it by now. The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (say that five times fast) is one of the most talked about products this year. Rihanna took two years to develop her makeup range to ensure that it’s all-inclusive and the products are high quality.
Taken from the Fenty website, Rihanna spent the two years,
focusing on a wide range of traditionally hard-to-match skin tones, creating formulas that work for all skin types, and pinpointing universal shades. Fenty Beauty products are designed to feel lightweight, even as they deliver buildable coverage that effortlessly layers, to ultimately “make skin look like skin.
The range includes 40 shades of foundation fit for those with Albinism and those with very dark skin. Fenty Beauty also included highlighters, concealers, primers, lipstick and more. It’s incredibly refreshing to have a makeup line that focuses on having something for everyone. So often makeup collections only include a handful of shades of foundation and concealer that definitely don’t work for everyone.
I’ve tried wearing the foundation many ways, including with and without primer, baking, and applying with different brushes and sponges. My favorite way, however, is to wear the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer underneath and apply the foundation with a damp beauty blender. I then set everything with my Coty airspun loose powder.

To be blunt, I’ve never used a foundation as amazing as this one. The coverage is so buildable, and no matter how much you try it will never look cakey. The finish falls somewhere between matte and dewy, providing a natural yet flawless look. It truly is a filter in a bottle.
There were two things that truly blew me away about this foundation. The first is oil control. I was expecting a semi-matte foundation to look oily on my skin halfway through the day, but that was not the case. Like I said, I use a primer and powder with the foundation, but I do that no matter what product I’m wearing. When I go to take my makeup off at the end of the day the Fenty foundation is still the same flawless finish with no sign of any oil coming through.

The second thing that impressed me is its staying power. Foundation always wears off of my nose first, so the fact that my nose didn’t resemble Rudolph at the end of the day was shocking, to say the least. It also doesn’t crease around my nose or under my eyes, which I appreciate!
I honestly can’t rave enough about the Fenty Beauty foundation. Rihanna did an incredible job developing this product, and despite the $32 price tag, I will definitely be buying it again. I highly recommend going to your local Sephora, getting color matched, and asking for a sample. You’ll be running back the next week to buy the full size!
