I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do on a 90º plus summer day is cake my face with makeup. No one I know enjoys the feeling of thick makeup melting off their face as it approaches happy hour. Oil and sweat is not equivalent to dewy skin, so less is more when it comes to summer time makeup. With my less is more approach, I like the look of a comfortable, nude lipstick. Bright lipstick is also fun for summer, but for an everyday basis, a nude lip is pretty and close to maintenance free.
What’s also great about less makeup, is that it take less time to apply! That means more time to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. While I won’t list every product I’ve been using lately, I will quickly give you a run down. I start with a mattifying primer, as I have oily skin to begin with. Next is a matte foundation; I love the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. A little concealer and then I set everything with a mattifying loose powder. Brows and mascara are next. Throw on some blush, bronzer, and highlight, and I’m almost done. The final touch is a nude lip and some setting spray to keep the makeup on my face. All of this takes me about 10 minutes and I look put together and ready for my day.
All of my favorite nude lips come from the drugstore, which means they’re easily accessible and affordable!
My first go to is Pink Punch from Ulta. It’s a matte lipstick, but is incredibly comfortable. It’s a thicker formula, meaning it stays in place all day long. Pink Punch is the perfect nude lip for my skin tone, as I’m quite fair skinned.
Bedtime Flirt from the Lip Lingerie line by Nyx has a bit of a burnt orange tint to it. This is another matte lipstick, and it dries completely unlike the Ulta one. It’s a bit darker of a shade as well, making it a more stark and bold nude lip.
This lipstick by Rimmel is hands down my most used lipstick. Number 08 from the Kate Moss by Rimmel line is the prettiest shade I have ever found at the drugstore. If I don’t know what lipstick to wear one day, I usually throw this one on because it goes with everything. It’s so comfortable and lasts all day as well.
A new addition to my collection, number 17 from the Kate Moss by Rimmel collection, is a more coral toned nude. This will look great once my skin is a bit tanner! Just like the other one, it’s incredibly comfortable and goes with just about any makeup look. The Kate Moss lipsticks also tend to leave a bit of a stain, so even after eating lunch the color is still there.
