Happy November and welcome back to my blog! I involuntarily took a break from my blog as I’ve been quite busy working on project for a client of mine. That project has just about ended now and I’ve found time to share what I tried out and loved during the month of October.

I’m so excited for the month of November as that means we’re one month closer to Christmas! As much as I try not to be, I am one of those people that at the stroke of midnight on November 1st I start making my Christmas playlist, thinking about the first snowfall, and counting down the days until my family and I can go pick out our Christmas tree.

This is not to say I don’t love Thanksgiving though. What could possibly be better than a day spent with family eating mountains of mashed potatoes followed by pie? I can’t think of anything. The combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas truly make the last two months of every year exciting and full of special moments. Before we get into the holiday spirit however, let’s get into what I loved during October!

I have two fashion favorites this month, both of which come from Target! Target has really stepped up their game in terms of clothing recently and I’m so excited to continue to shop there. The clothing is pretty good quality at a decent price and they always have the cutest shoes. I got the sweater for $2o and the boots were around the $40 mark. The sweater is the perfect length the wear with leggings as it’s just long enough to cover your rear end, but not so long that it looks like a dress. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the boots and they’re extremely comfortable. I think I could wear them an entire day walking around NYC and not have an issue. Don’t quote me on that though!

I tried two new lipsticks this month and loved them both! The first is from Maybelline and it’s their matte lipstick in the shade Lust for Blush. It’s a gorgeous mauve shade with a creamy formula that isn’t the least bit drying. I was so impressed with the formula of this lipstick because most times matte lipsticks are drying just by nature. This lipstick is comfortable and I hardly notice I’m wearing anything at all.

The second lipstick is e.l.f.’s matte lip pencil in the shade Cranberry. I absolutely adore a red lip, but sometimes I feel like a bright, bold red lipstick is just too much for an everyday outfit. This shade is perfect when you’re looking for that red/berry shade but don’t want something so bold and loud. Again, it’s a comfortable formula that is perfect for wearing from morning to night.

I didn’t get a good picture of just the Maybelline Brow Precise eyebrow pencil, but I wanted to include it in my favorites here. I had been using e.l.f.’s eyebrow kit for a while, and I still like the formula of the product but I started feeling like the shade I was using was too dark for me. I wanted to try a pencil again after not using one for awhile and ended up going with the┬áMaybelline Brow Precise eyebrow pencil. I love everything about this product except for how quickly it gets used up. I bought my first pencil at the beginning of October and ran out before the month was even over. At $8 or $9 a pencil, I feel like that’s a bit much for a product I have to buy almost twice a month. I will say that the product is true to it’s name and incredibly precise and easy to use. It even has a spooly attached!

It’s not often that I get to try out a new shampoo and conditioner as I don’t go through them very quickly due to having thin hair. So when my Renpure shampoo and conditioner finally ran out (I’d been using them since June) I knew I wanted to try something different. I’d heard good things about the Not Your Mother’s line from a friend and decided to go with the products specifically made for people with thin hair. I have to say that I like this combination in the fact that it makes my hair soft, shiny, and smell nice, but I don’t notice any thickening or volumizing effects. I also like that it’s free of sulfates, parabens, and dyes, as all three of those things can weigh your hair down. I don’t know if I’ll repurchase these when I run out though…

The last product I have to share is the Garnier Shine Control Cleansing Gel made with charcoal and menthol. It’s made specifically for people with oily skin to deep clean your face and body while removing makeup and excess oil. This may be the best face wash I’ve ever used. I’ve really seen a difference in my skin since I’ve started using it and it leaves my face feeling so clean and refreshed. This is the first face wash I’ve seen at the drugstore that is made with charcoal, a product known for being beneficial to those with oily skin. The added cooling effect of the menthol is a nice touch too. If you struggle with oily skin I would highly recommend picking this up the next time you’re at the drugstore.
