T’is the season for cookies! I love baking and I love Christmas so nothing is better than Christmas cookies. I make the same two or three recipes every year and it’s one of my favorite traditions. Throw on some Christmas music, grab a hot drink, and I’m ready to start baking.

One thing that’s nice to do with all of the cookies is give them as gifts! It’s an expensive but special gift to give friends or family. Giving homemade cookies shows you care and took the time and effort to make something nice. What I’ve started doing this year to bring the cookies to the next level is putting them on a peppermint plate and then wrapping the whole thing in cellophane and a nice bow! It’s such a simple way to make your cookies look far more festive than if you just put them on a paper plate and covered them in plastic wrap or tinfoil.

Making the mint plate is so easy and creates zero mess. Simply place parchment paper on the bottom of a springform pan (the kind you’d use to make a cheesecake) and then lay down one layer or starlight peppermints. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes at 350º F, careful to watch it so the mints don’t burn. The result is so gorgeous it’s hard to believe that it takes hardly any effort at all.

Obviously you can bake whatever cookies you’d like to put on the plate, but my favorite ones to make are a recipe that’s been in my family since I can remember! These chocolate mint cookies only have a few ingredients, are easy to make, and are so delicious!

Once you’ve made your cookies and they’ve cooled, place a healthy amount on your peppermint plate! Wrap the whole thing in clear, cellophane wrap, tie it with a bow, and add a cute gift tag. You’re Christmas cookies are now ready to be given as the perfect, homemade gift!

Happy holidays and thanks for reading!

December is the time for office Christmas parties, family get togethers, and going out with friends who have come home for the holidays! I’ve created a look that’s appropriate for any holiday party you may find yourself at, whether that’s at a bar or the most glamorous ballroom you’ve ever set foot in (if you’re attending a party like that can I come?). However if you did want to take this look to the next level you could add fake lashes for a dramatic look.

I decided to go with a very classic look featuring red lips and lots of highlight! I really love the gold eye look I’ve created as I think it’s flattering on any skin tone and for any eye color. I wet my brush before applying the gold  eyeshadow so that it would be incredibly pigmented and beautiful. Lining underneath my eyes with brown shadow really made my eyes pop. I only applied a small cat eye as the red lip is already quite bold; I didn’t want too much to be going on.

Thanks for reading,

I absolutely love this time of year. I was just having a conversation with my boyfriend Luke the other day, and he was commenting on how he really doesn’t like how it gets dark so early where we live (the sun set at 4:22 PM today). I told him I loved it due to how cozy it makes everything feel. It’s acceptable to curl up by the fire in pajamas with a good book by 7 in the evening and not feel guilty for not doing something more important (though I probably should be…). Winter candle scents are the best out of the four seasons, Chili is the perfect meal to have on a cold winter night, and there are endless Christmas programs on the television.

I especially love Christmas because of the decorations! When I go into Target, Marshalls, or any other home goods shop that has a Christmas decoration section, I have to look even if I don’t need anything. I feel like there are endless possibilities as to how to decorate for Christmas; classic and elegant, rustic, bright and fun, the list goes on and on. This is the first year I’ve really decorated by bedroom for Christmas and I ended up going with a copper and silver theme to match the existing decor of my room. I still live with my parents, so the rest of the house is there’s to decorate, but my room is my own space that I can design however I’d like.

Along with copper and silver, I’ve ended up with so many fairy lights and candles that I don’t quite know what to do with myself. My room is the definition of cozy and I’m so incredibly happy with it. I know come January I’ll be sad to take everything down and put away until next year. The only downside to so many lights and candles is having to turn them off and blow them out before I go to bed.

All decorations are from Target, Marshalls, or Michaels craft store. I’ll link what I can in the captions!
