One of the things I am most self conscious about is my acne. For about three weeks out of the month my acne is minimal and manageable, however I get really bad hormonal acne.I don’t like people seeing my skin when I have a lot of breakouts and I tend to cover them up with makeup. While I’m still trying to find the perfect products to tackle and prevent breakouts, these are the products I’m currently loving.

Boots is a U.K brand that has finally made its way to the united states! They have so many wonderful skin care options, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. The Beautiful Skin balancing toner for normal to oily skin really helped balance out the oil on my skin. It’s fragrance free, non drying, and works to cleanse while also tightening pores. I’ve noticed a difference in the tone of my face since using this product as well.

Another product I love is Pixi’s Glow Tonic. It’s a 5% glycolic acid treatment that exfoliates and tones the skin all while fighting acne. I noticed a huge change in terms of acne the morning after I used this for the first time. I use this only at night right now but am thinking of using it morning and night to see if that makes an even bigger difference. This product has a bit of a strong fragrance but it’s not bad and I’ve gotten used to it.

I find that applying a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment really helps diminish the appearance of larger spots. However benzoyl peroxide can be very drying so it’s important to use a heavy moisturizer along with it. Benzoyl peroxide also has the tendency to expire fast, so keep track of when your tube goes bad so you can pick up a new one.

I’ve beat the Sunday Riley Good Genes treatment to death on my blog (check out my post here) so I won’t go on for long. This expensive treatment packs a serious punch works to tone, tighten, exfoliate, plump, and fight acne. I only use this three times a week or so as it’s a 40% lactic acid treatment. It’s important to build up to using this product nightly as it is so strong. I’ll use this serum two nights in a row if I’m having a particularly bad break out.

The last thing I find really helpful when it comes to controlling and fighting acne is a charcoal mask. I got this one in england, but there are so many brands here in the U.S. who sell a similar (or identical) product. I leave the mask on for about twenty minutes and the next morning I notice my skin is much brighter and healthier looking.

What are your favorite products for treating and managing acne? I’d love to know!

Thanks for reading,

I know every blogger says this every single month, but how is it the end of the month already?! I feel like I JUST put up my August favorites. I don’t have too many things to share with you, but I still thought the products I do have were worth writing about. Personally, I love reading about what people tried out over the past month!

You know it’s Autumn when you walk into Bath & Body Works and they have all of the autumnal scents out. Normally $22.50, I waited for them to go on sale and used a coupon I had to get two candles for about $20.00. An absolute bargain! I walked around the shop for ages trying to decide what I wanted before finally settling on Autumn and Mahogany Apple. Autumn is a mix of apple, fig, eucalyptus leaf, and fir balsam and it smells incredible. Mahogany Apple is a mix of mahogany wood, apple, lavender, and pink peppercorn. I honestly don’t smell the last two scents, but the combination works to create an almost men’s cologne like scent. Perfect for when I’m missing my boyfriend!

My skin had been going through a bit of a rough time in September, from what I’m assuming was a mix of dirty makeup brushes (whoops), hormones, and possibly a new product I was trying out. I’ve heard really good things about the Pixi Glow Tonic from various YouTubers and thought I would give it a try. The tonic’s main selling point is that it’s a 5% Glycolic Acid toner, with some other skin loving ingredients in there as well. I noticed a difference in my skin right away! The morning after using this for the first time my acne was so much better than what it was 12 hours ago, and my skin looked brighter. I read that people with oily skin did not have the best of luck with this product, but I didn’t have an issue which I’m really grateful for.

Another product I heard great things about was the L’Oreal Infallible foundation. I finally bought this, although in the wrong shade, and I like it! It keeps me matte all day, is easily blendable, and feels really light on the skin. I have to keep using tanning lotion on my skin in order for the shade I bought to work, but that’s my own fault. However, I did buy the second to lightest shade and I’m worried that the lightest shade they have still won’t work for me… Oh the joys of being pale.

Sephora has recently come out with a bunch of new products, one of them being their matte liquid lipsticks. I picked up the shade Fig Luster, and it’s the perfect color as we transition into the cooler months. It’s a grey toned purple, but doesn’t make your lips look dead and lifeless. It doesn’t really dry which is something I was expecting from a matte lipstick, but it still stays in place all day. The applicator is a bit messy but I still love the color so I won’t let that one little flaw stop me from using this product.

Finally, I purchased the shimmering skin perfector mineral blush by Becca Cosmetics in the shade Champagne Splits. The highlighter is in the shade Champagne Pop and the blush is the shade Flowerchild. Both are absolutely gorgeous on the skin and last all day. I wrote up a first impressions post which you can check out if you’d like to know more about this product.

Let me know what products you tried out this month in the comments below!
