Happy New Year! I hope you had a fantastic night, whether you stayed in or went out. I stayed in, as it was below zero and I spent most of the day curled in a ball with a painful ovarian cyst. Let’s hope that’s not a sign of how things will play out in 2018! Luke was sweet though, he made me tea and we sat in bed and played computer games while I complained about the pain 😅
I try a lot of makeup, some of which is bad, but thankfully a lot of it is good as well. When I thought about how I wanted to wrap things up on my blog, the first thing that came to mind was doing a wrap up of all of the makeup I loved in 2017. After all, this is a beauty and lifestyle blog. My first priority is bringing you posts to inform you about the latest makeup and beauty products.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the products I loved last year!
This primer does a really nice job of filling in pores and perfecting the skin, creating a base for your foundation. I’ve tried a lot of silicone based primers, and never thought any of them were that great, but this one has changed my mind! The only thing I wish was different about this primer is that it had a mattifying effect. That would take this primer from an A to an A+
I lusted after this blush for SO long, and 2017 is the year I finally bought it! It’s just as beautiful as everyone says it is. The gold shimmer is stunning and is just enough to make your skin look healthy.
To go with the NARS blush, I love to use the MAC highlighter in Soft & Gentle. This is the first MAC product I’ve owned, and I like it a lot! It’s beautiful applied as is or wet. It also lasts all day, meaning no worrying about having to touch up your highlight ✨
I purchased this little pot in the beginning of 2017, and to be honest I kind of forgot about it. I recently started to use it again, and quickly fell back in love. Wine Not is a stunning sparkly, deep purple shade that looks like it would cost a lot of money. However, this shadow costs less than your morning coffee and will leave you wanting to buy all of the shades available.
When Too Faced announced the launch of this palette back in April (I think?) I stared at the pictures of it for so long. It was the prettiest thing I had seen since Tiffany’s at Christmas time. With a price tag of $59, I wasn’t sure if I could justify buying it, however, sometimes you just have to say “treat yourself”.
All the shadows are beautiful and ones I actually use. With 30 shadows, there are a lot of different looks you can create with this palette. Two of my favorite shades are Honey Pot and Hot & Bothered.

I’ve talked this lipstick to death so I won’t harp on it for too long. The shade 401 is the perfect red, and it just so happens that it’s the perfect formula as well. Long lasting and comfortable! I can’t wait to pick up more shades of this lipstick soon.
This is another lipstick I’ve talked about a lot on here, but I couldn’t put together this list without including the shade Crisis from Urban Decay. It’s a nice plum-rose color that’s comfortable and flattering. Enough said!
Is this not a jaw-dropping palette? 😍 While I got this very recently as a Christmas present, I had to include it in this post. Most of the shadows I own are various shades of brown, copper and gold, so this pink toned palette is a welcome addition to my collection. Huda Beauty shadows are known for their quality, and these ones are no different. They’re incredibly soft and blend like a dream. There are also 3 other color combinations of this 9 shade palette if pinks aren’t your thing.

I wrote a review of this foundation recently, which you can go and read if you want more details, but this really is the best high-end foundation I’ve used. It’s a soft matte finish, has buildable coverage, and doesn’t make my skin oily. All three things are a win in my book!

Too be honest, I don’t feel the need to spend a lot of money on setting sprays. I use one everyday, meaning I use them up quickly. I can’t justify spending 20+ dollars every month on a single bit of makeup. With that said, the Milani setting spray is $9 and does what I want it to. It makes my makeup last a bit longer and helps everything to sort of melt together. The mist is also very fine, which is exactly what you want in a setting spray!
I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store, not only in terms of achieving my goals, but also seeing (andtrying) all of the new makeup! Playing with makeup never gets old to me, which is why I love blogging about it so much. I constantly get to share with my readers what makeup I’m loving (or not loving). So, what did you discover in 2017 that you’d consider a top pick? Let me know in the comments!
